Her production number is 0000168.
She was first put on the road in October 1977.
I bought her in August 1985 at 77000 kms
for DM 18000, and have not regretted it.
2 major restorations of bodywork in 1996 and 1998.
Next MOT is due July 1998.

HI Cool website. My 262c has big rectangular european headlights.
powerful v-6 engine. Beuatiful car I love it.
Hi. Im interested in buying a 264 TE. Does anybody have any information
on whethere any of these cars were exported to the U.S. If not is it
imposible to export one from Europe?
Beautiful car. Runs very Good. Getting very rare in the United States.
Does anybody know how many there are left in the world or in the U.S.A.?

VERY CLEAN AND TIDY FOR YEAR OF MANUFACTURE. THE CAR HAS BEEN STORED IN A SHED FOR TEN YEARS THAT IS WHY THE MILEAGE IS SO LOW.
WE HAVE PHOTOGRAPHS TO SHOW THE CAR IN THE SHED.
Bought this car in 1993 after it had been parked outside for 4 years.
Then replaced the motor and now it has been painted the original color.
Very pretty and nice to drive.
I love this web page,
Interior in great shape, engine and body needs work. I have owned the car since
new and have most of the service records still on file. I’m getting too old
to look after the car the way it should be done and will consider any reasonable offer.
I’ve put auto transmission, and B28 engine,
I’ve had my 262C converted to a re-built, 1983 B23 four-cylinder for practicality.
Am I the only one who has done this?
Most likely, since it is no longer a collector’s item.
Would like to know thoughts on this…
I own a ’77 262 C since 1991. It’s #253, one of the first cars around. I’m the third owner of this original car. It has 215’000km on the clock but made over 190’000km in the first ten years. In 1987 it was resprayed in original silver met. and I changed the motor (took one from a ’79 265 with 120’000km). It’s a nice driver during summer. I never drove it in winter (only 2 months in ’93 as my daily driver break down).
Now I want to sell it because of an new experience with a Jaguar.
I bought this original Volvo 262 Coupe in America from the first owner Mr. Phan Nguyen in Westminster CA.
The car is never been welded and still original.
When the car was imported to Holland we stripped the complete body and repainted the car because the paint was very damaged. Also the interior is completely restored in original shape. By rebuilding the car we placed an automatic gearbox with overdrive.
At this moment the Volvo 262 Coupe is in a exellent shape and very nice to drive.
Also the engine is completely overhauled.
This vehicle is in pristine interior condition. After 20 years rust is starting to take its toll but only at the wheel wells and the cowling. I plan to restore the body, paint it jet black to match the roof and interior. A Volvo specialist in Calgary is anxious to drop the Peugeot V-6 in favour of a 5.0 mustang V-8
This car has spent most of its life in Sacramento Ca.
I bought it from the second owner in 1996. At that time it was equipped with a vinyl interior.
I located a leather interior of which only the back seats were usable. The front seats were used to take paterns and I had new, pretty neat, seat covers made.
The cars paint was in a bad shape so I’ve arranged for a practically bare metal respray. There’s absolutely no rust on the car (and never have been).
I bought it brand new and still runs like a champ.
Its black on black and I want to restore the interior.
If anyone knows a place where I could get new seats please contact me!
Also if anyone knows of any aftermarket performance parts please contact me too.
I have a 1980 262c with 92K original miles.
I have been restoring it very slowly for the past five years and will have it completed soon.
The price depends on the stage of completion.
I still need to re-install the interior, carpet, window & body trim and door locks.
The following parts have been replaced or rebuilt, brakes, master cylinder, wheel bearings, transmission,
muffler, fuel injectors, fuel distributor, fuel pressure control module, hoses, belts, spark plugs,
wires, distributor cap, plugs, and more.
I am interested in selling it ortrading it for a four door sedan or station wagon that will be useful to my family.
I can be reached at 770 967-0264.
Make an offer! Chris
THE ENGINE WAS SHOT WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR SO I HAD TO MAKE A DECISION TO EITHER REPAIR OR REPLACE THE B-28 ENGINE OR INSTALL A SMALL BLOCK CHEVY.
I AM IN THE PROCESS OF INSTALLING A 1985 CHEVY 350 WITH EDELBROCK INTAKE, CAM AND 4-BARREL CARB.
I SHOULD HAVE THIS JEWEL ON THE STREET BY THE END OF MAY 1999.
I recently purchased this car and would like to find access for parts.
I’m told they are hard to come by.
If you could please forward any information to my e-mail address please.
Thank you very much. Stan Hess aka firstname.lastname@example.org
Original owner. Yes, lots of miles on this baby, but it’s still a head-turner.
Although I have replaced a fair number of parts,
I have not yet spent an amount equal to what I paid for it in October, 1980.
For the 19 years I’ve owned it, average/year repair costs are between 500-600.
Not bad considering I’ve had no car payments for 14 years.
Would be interested in learning what it would/could go for if I decided to sell.
Car sold to number 271 of the list
My Uncle bought it in 86 died in 88 then my parents inherieted it and gave it to me in 99.
I am in the proccess of restoring it to it’s original lustre,
any tips or suggestions would be helpful.
The engine was replaced with a 1985 240 series 4 cyl Turbo with just over 50k miles.
I LOVE this body style and interior!
It is an extremely fun car to drive and I get comments at least once a week from strangers admiring the unique beauty of this vehicle.
Car was sitting outside (covered) for 3 years.
I absolutely refuse to sell it or scrap it !!!
It had engine trouble before being parked, would not start on humid or rainy days.
Body and interioris absolutely immaculate due to rustproofing.
It is time to ressurect my baby !!!
Thinking about dropping in a Ford 5.0L or Chevy motor !!!
Any tips or suggestions ?
i bought this car last year for $500.00. the engine was shot although i was able to drive it home.
i have since replaced the v-6 with a chevy 350 v-8 and a turbo 350 auto trans.
i have done quite a bit of work on the exterior and interior.
the car is presently at the paint and body shop where i am changing the color to white diamond pearl clearcoat.
the chevy engine is bored out to .040 over and i have installed an edelbrock performer cam intake
manifold and 4-barrel carb.
this car really moves.
this started out as a project but has now become a quest.
i can’t wait to pull up next to these new mustangs and cameros to see their faces when my volvrolet
leaves them in the dust.
Zweitbesitzer.
Nice car from california. Car has blown head gaskets, but runs.
Im going to put a 4-cly from a 1983 turbo coupe w/ a M-46 with OD in the car with the wiring harness & the the updated dash. I hear people
gasping out there.
If someone out there would like to buy it please E-mail me. Would like to buy a Harley-Davidson motorcycle!
I presently own two 262C’s both were painted two years ago and both in good running condition.
I will soon be selling both cars because I own sixteen cars and my wife has clostrophobia
and can’t even ride in them.
I am quite certain I will get another later in life because I have always loved this model.
REPLACED THE ORIGINAL V-6 WITH A 1990 B230FT WITH AW-71 AUTO TRANSMISSION, NOW THE CAR REALLY RUNS WELL.
ALSO ADDED IPD SWAY BARS AND NOW IT HANDLES WELL ALSO.
THINKING ABOUT CONVERTING TO A V-8 302 FORD AS WE HAVE DONE TWO OF THESE CONVERSIONS IN OUR SHOP ALREADY
Volvo informed me this is one of only 821 sold in the US.- out of their total production of 1670.
My car is in perfect condition having been serviced faithfully and garaged always.
I am curious as to how many of the 821 may still be on the road.
(The number may be even less than 821 as the Volvo letter also mentioned production figures for the 1979 model but didn’t differentiatel on the US numbers). Have seen only one 262C in at least the past three years.
Would like to hear from anyone with interesting info. Thanks………..
I purchased this car used in 1988 with 33,000 klms and have added 50,000 more myself in the last 12 years.
Still the lowest mileage I’ve seen so far.
Got bored with original color scheme (Gold with black dash and tan interior)Interior is now all
black and exterior is Green pearl with bumpers, grille and wheels painted to match.Valve covers
and intake are polished and different air cleaner were installed so now can actually see the motor
where that huge air cleaner used to be.
Car should be complete this spring.Car has been great. Only thing I’ve had to do since I’ve had it is to
install new water pump. Not bad for 12 years driving.
What a great car to drive, I picked it up off my neighbour who left it unregistered for some 6 years.
After carefully hand turning the engine over for the first time to fantasic journeys touring around
Western Australia it has never let me down and I will find it hard to ever replace.
I purchased the car in October 1999 from the family that took delivery of it 19 years ago.
It has only covered 19750 MILES yes MILES, With full service history, original bill of sale ect…
I have now joined the Volvo Owners Club in the UK. And are looking forward to taking the car to rallies here.
I have owned the car since 1981. I bought it from the original owner.
The engine has been a problem since new as the cams and followers are distroyed after 30,000 miles.
The engine has been apart twice to correct the problem but it comes back. (blocked oiling holes on cam followers)
Would like any information that might exist on a fix/or a good suggestion for an easy engine swap.
The car has been off the road and garaged for the past ten years.
Engine needs top end rebuild again, otherwise perfect.
I am looking at a 1981 with 167,000 miles which has slight body damage.
The car is Black with Tan interior. The front seats are in bad condition.
Does anyone know where to get new front seat skins?
It was setting in garage for a couple of years, starting to run it again seems to overheat on long distance ?
Can someone tell me a value of this car 1-10 rate a 7. I know this is a grey area but I just want an idea ?
I found my 262C at stock yard and bought it by miniture car price.
I am very lucky because most people do not know about 262C.
There are several rusty parts especially around A piller and boot. But, it runs well.
I will start the restoration.
I have recently installed a B23FT into this coupe.
I have lowered it put IPD swaybars, tower brace, firewall braces, lower A arm braces, bilstein shocks at the corners and installed a set of 16″ wheels from a 740 turbo with 205x55x16
I have just aquired this car on 26 May 00
Would like to have ownersmanuel and any information
2005 Lindsay Ln.
Engine in the Car was refitted with a 2.1 L 4 cyl from a 1980 240DL wagon.
original engine had failed and was sold to volvo as a core some years back.
Car had not been on the road since 1988 and was stored outside most of this time.
I am inprocess of getting the car back on the road and was up and driving 2 week ago
and still debugging systems that we not working.
Electrical being the biggest problem.
Was told by previous owner that this is a king of Sweden limited edition and I am looking
for any information that can confirm this.
He said it was one of 100 such cars and has the crown emplem you show in the top window of this page.
Any information would be helpful.
thank you very much.
Love this car but it is currently laid up and not sure I’ll get it fixed.
Bought used in 1983 in Bremerton, Washington and used as my primary car until engine decided to not cooperate anymore at 180,000 miles (coolant leak into #6 cylinder).
Have kept it beside the house now for two years.
Replaced original V6 with 1992 Chevrolet 5L (305CI 180HP) TBI (Throttle Body Fuel Injected) V8 engine and
700R4 (4L60) 4-speed AOD (Automatic Overdrive) automatic transmission.
I am very happy with the conversion and with the way the car drives with the more powerful engine.
The car has been standing still for over 3 years now.
I run the engine every month for 15 minutes to keep the oil distributed throughout the block, but it’s suffering nevertheless.>BR>
The fuel distributor develops some airbubles which keep it from running smoothly.
Everytime I hear it getting stuck I promise myself to get down to the bottom of the problem,
but then again, two left hands prevent me from solving it.
The last overhaul was done by one of the previous owners early nineties.
They did a great job, but still the car starts rusting again…
It´s for sale.
The car is not used since 1994.the leather and and the rest of interieur is perfekt original.
the car has no accident but several rusty points for example at the rear left wheelhouse and under
if somebody is interested in buying this car,
please connect me by e-mail!
I have two running bertone in great condition – loving the car — its not a bmw, a mecedes, a saab, its so different
I get the looks — they even think its a rolls royce sometimes.. both cars are running great.
This 262 is converted into the european 1981 version.
Furthermore the car is equipped with a AW 71 3 + overdrive automatic gearbox.
In addition to airconditioning a power roof has been installed as well.
Dear Fellow/Lady Bertone Owners,
Greetings! Presently I am having a love/hate relationship with my car.
I love the solid feel and the coupe bodystyle.
I dislike the problems that seem to plague the car, which cause me to continuously ask myself whether to sell it or keep it and pour money in.
Is it a well that will hold water in the end, or a chronic leaker?
Thinking of possible impending camshaft problems any day/year gives me no great joy.
However, as I said, I like the car. Any advice/input?
Car is registered in Austria.
Absolut original condition, not restored, perfect paint, chromework, interior, etc., only driven in summer with low milage.
Specials: R-Sport steering wheel/4spoke, R-Sport cockpit instruments, R-Sport suspension/
roadholding Kit; Battery and water tank for windshield cleaning mounted in trunk for better weight distribution; stainless steel exhaust system; Virgo or BBS rims available.
I have performed a Motor/Transmission Swap on my Bertone.
I have a 1988 Ford Mustang 5.0 motor with the 5 speed Manual Transmission installed equipped with the standard fuel injection system.
Full IPD Sport Suspension.
It is a lot more fun to drive now compared to with the V6 and the Automatic Transmission.
I have seen the car in Germany.
Car is still for sale (the guy wants 3800 DM).
Very rusty but has run may be only 22500 kms.
However, it doesn’t look like that.
Interior stinks, trunk is wet. 1 year TUV left.
Please email me if you want more details or some pics.
A lovely 262C fully restored by Barry Du-Crow, a Volvo mechanc. It is slightly customised.
The car has lowered suspension, a 240 instrument pannel with oil temp, outside temp, voltmeter, oil pressure, as well as an upgraded sound CD system.
The bumpers are about 1983 vintage.
The car looks very much like Gyllenhammer’s 262C but blue instead of red. This is my everyday car.
I have owned this car for 10 years. In the begining everyone who saw it thought it might be an avanti!
The car is now quite rusty. The engine is strong, no cam problems and the tranny is rebuilt.
I am trying to restore it to its former glory.
I am always looking for a good leather interior, tan of course.
I also have black door panels for someone.I just love this car.
I am the third owner of this nice 1980 262c.
I am in the process of restoring it.
It runs well, but needs some body work and a little mechanical tinkering, otherwise it’s in pretty good shape.
Tim Menk Silver Spring, MD 20901 USA 301-439-5704
Purchased my 262C in April. Straight body, NO RUST!
I’m repairing all those little things that seem to go wrong while in storage, mostly minor.
My 240 wagon will remain my daily driver, but I sure love driving the “C”

I just bought it a few weaks ago with a stuffed engine and I am in the process of fitting a 92 B2320F.
I also striped out the interior to find all the rust and I am repairing it.
The worst is in the rear pillar.
I had to cut about 3″ out at the botton of the corners and all of the recess where the trim fits.
I am tring to find a replacement panel for the whole pillar.
UPDATE DROVE THE CAR FROM TAMPA FLORIDA TO MERIDEN CONNETICUT IM NOW FORCED TO SELL HER CAR LOOKS GREAT

I bought this 262C from a Volvo dealer at about 40k miles in 1986. I have driven another 40k+ miles since then.
Somehow the head gasket started to leak about 3 years ago.
I parked the car with coolant drained and oil changed for almost 3 years.
I finally took the engine apart and had the head gasket replaced.
In the past few days I had the engine reassembled and started.
It idled reasonably well within 10 minutes after first started.
I think I shall be able to drive this car soon again.
But before that I need to make sure the brake is in good order.
I probably want to drain and refill the transmission fluid and brake fluid.
The coolant is fresh now. I use VW’s blue coolant because it is for VW’s Vanagon which
has an alluminum wet liner engine and require to use this blue coolant.
I will probably want to repack all wheel bearings and change the oil in the transaxle too.
Well, this is going to be a while before I get all these done.
Then I will need to re register this car and get insurance for it.
Boy, I just can’t wait to drive it again.
Good luck to you all and your 262C. Hope you enjoy driving it as much as I do.
Purchased Summer 1998 from 2nd owner. Wonderful auto, love this car.
We fondly call it “Houston” after son of 2nd owner.
They sold the car because it was difficult getting Houston’s car seat in & out of the back seat (2-door).
This auto is light blue metallic with blk leather.
Tres cool. BTW, I have seen a green one in Kona, Hawaii. Have a great day.
I have been searching for a 262C for 16 years finally in August 2001 I found the right vehicle.
Damaged in the front but still in running order.
It came with service booklet showing last service 140 000 km 27/4/2000.
Leather in perfect condition, spare wheel never been used, boot carpet better than the carpet in my lounge.
Apart from the front end damage the body is in good condition, being in the smash repair industry it is perfect.
So I need as much info as I can about the 262C as how rare are they and what number is my car off the production
line, plus any other info you might have that will get me excited.
All of your comments and help are welcomed.
My Car is a bit modified!I just made my three crown a bit deeper!
Because now it looks much better and is just about 1.24 meters high!
So my babe now looks much more like a Coupe and no longer more like a Jeep!!!!!
I restored my car for about one and a half year, made it deeper and
installed polished Aluline Wheels
in the dimension 7.5×15 ET 10 with 225/50R15 tires!
This is my third Volvo Bertone…I sold the other two 1979 models which were from the same production line.
My present one is a 1981 model, with only 71,000 miles. It’s a Florida car, with very minimal rust.
If anyone out there knows where I can locate the “crown” emblem that affixes on the roof side panel
to the rear of the side windows.
I bought this car 6 mos ago.
I love it but unfortunately do not have the time it takes to put into it.
I think I’m going to be putting it up for sale soon.
I’m hoping that it goes to someone who loves the 262c as much as I do.
I bought the car in Sweden with full documentation.
First owner and original 60.000 km. It’s a 1981 two tone in perfect condition.
In 2001 the car won the first price during the Volvo festival in Gothenburg for the best and original Coupe.
We have 3 262´s in our garage.

Stalk Equalizer Stereo with a JBL imaging Enhancer-GTP4 system.
I purchased this car in 1992 with 88,622 miles on the odometer.
I learned the hard way that It was not a good idea to store it for four years in a barn.
After about $3,000 in fuel system repairs and replaced gaskets I got it back on the road.
It’s all original and complete, but in need of restoration. I’ve never figured out just why, but I absolutely love this car!
Maybe I’ll find the resources to have it restored soon.
I have 2 Bertone 262c’s, one unfortunitelly has alot of things needing repair, the other just has a few minor things, but I love them.

I am a new owner of this volvo, and I am having problems with the timing and running of this car.
Any help that anyone can gave me would be greatly appreciated.you can e-mail at MrDrewtwou@yahoo.com.
I have seen the article of the caprice motor. I am currently working on mine.
I have put a 302 Windsor with cleveland heads and a 4 speed auto into it.
At the moment the motor sits on an angle to clear the steering shaft.
Any help to get around this problem would be appreciated.
Currently it is Blue but will eventually be yellow and i will change the leather to black.
I have changed the front panels and bumbers to the later model.

the left side cam is ticking and i think that one hose is bent on itself to prevent flow,
is there a best engine to replace without losing the tranny?
I also need 2 peices of trim, hood and pass-door.
29-5-2003 Purchased today the 28th of May 2003 from an estate sell.
They painted it black and interior is black. Drove 40 miles to my home and it drove nicely.
1981 has the least made, 45,340 original miles and I will keep it a long time.
All the records from 1981 were in the car! In 1996 had 38,200 miles, WOW! Purchase price $1500.00.
Has the original V6 engine.
Full Volvo Service History. New Engine fitted under Volvo Warranty. 6 owners including myself.
This car was manufactured in 1979 but was not registered with DVLA UK by the Volvo dealer until 1/1/1982.
It has an electric sunroof as an optional extra.
I found my 76 262 Volvo in a field where it sat for about 5 years.
The body was in good shape but the driver’s side floor was in bad shape so I welded in some new medal.
The engine ran but would not accelerate and it was determined upon further investigation that the cams were bad.
So I pulled the B27F and replaced it with a Chevrolet V8 backed by a Borg-Warner 5 speed and am currently driving it.
It is registered as an antique and will spend its winters indoors
The fastest and rarest Volvo I have ever driven.
Bought the car on a garage sale, for the price of AU$ 120 + a case of bear, transport home, $45
Has been offered $3000 as is where is, but don’t want to sell it, Volvo Australia is helping me wit special things,
and want to borrow the car when it is restored.
I’m Danish but live in Australia, educated Motor engineer from Denmark, and have been traveling for BMW all over the world.
Is it possibe to estimate how many is left of the 262C in the world (aprox) in original condition.
I/We currently own 5 Bertones. 81,80,79 & 2 78’s.
We are currently building a ’79 with a B230FT, AW72L, and posi rear end.
The car is being finished at the body shop, and fine tuning will continue.
Currently the project car has 275,000 total miles.
Write for any details or pictures. We have tons of parts if needed for sale.
I purchased the car from Mr. Joseph Lauricella (your listing #345).
He switched out the 6 cyl B27F for a 4cyl B230F out of an ’89 240.
He also repainted in the original metallic silver and had the driver seat rebuilt.
Runs beautifully (actually zippier than with the 6cyl), and I’ve got a reliable engine!
Hope to keep it running for a long time.
I have just purchased this car – it has been unused for the last three years and is yet to be registered.
The body is in excellent condition, especially the interior.
The engine has been replaced with a 4.2 litre Holden V8, running on LPG.
[This engine was unique to general Motors in Australia, available as 253 or 308 cu.in – it was used mainly in the Holden Commodore and Torana]. The wheels are not original,
being wider than standard – I assume because of the extra power of the V8.
I’ve yet to fully research the car and its history. I look forward to an interesting involvement with the register.
I love volvo 262 C bertone
Car body, cruise, engine, trans, fan, interior are good.

Can anyone tell me the route my car took to get to Canada.
What I know is car sold in New Brunswick, then to Prince Edward Island where I bought and moved it to Nova Scotia.
Purchased this car after the other ’79 bertone that I had swapped a B230FT into was rear-ended and totaled.
This car is in great shape for its age and has had the interor totally swapped out for a black one instead of the stock Beige that came in the car.
Plans for this car are to do a Corvettle LT1 or LT4 swap in the summer of ’06 or ’07 (depending on how long I can make the V6 last.

My Bertone is almost in brand new condition, I drove it only 38,000 miles in 26 years.
The engine has never been touched. all is OK and I would like to sell it.
This Bertone has the 3 CROWNS emblems on either sides of the roof and one on the steering wheel.
Laid up prior to body work – rust removal around windscreen etc but expected to be on the road before the end of 2006.
Mechanically all sorted. Car can be viewed at http://www.volvoadventures.com/262Cspec.html
The car has changed hands since it was displayed on the web.
I inherited this 262c from a very good guy. With such little work, my 262c can be in prestine condition considering it only has 83k original miles.
Everything is fully functional and in working condition. Runs very good.
-I dont know too much about these cars-
-Are these cars worth alot of money?-
-if you want to buy my 262c, please email me at:

Recently I came across the very car my grandfather bought in 1977.
I could not resist buying it having had an undercurrent of Volvo enthousiasm anyway.
The car is basically ok, but is in need of restoration of the usual areas where rust has done it’s work.
Any tips and ideas are very much welcome.
I started to sell the other day. I’ve been holding on for 5 years.
It has no major damage. I’m glad I held on, its my mid life crisis automobile.
The timing belt went right before I bought it for $75.00 dollars.
I was thinking about converting to a 5.0 mustang eng. What do you think?

I’m the second owner my Boss owned Apartments I or We(my better half)were his managers for 9yrs.
I got a great deal in 1996 for$200.00 a month until $2,000 was paid.
I LOVE my Bertone but as you can see it needs some serious TLC?
Being managers every time there was an eviction to do I’d get more scratch marks or dings and the bottle opener ran down the sides?
They better be happy I never caught em’?!!Serious Bodily damagage would have be-falled upon thy wicked souls.
If you are reading this and might have information as to where I might find a replacement COUPE'(CHROME) TRUNK PART

It was originally bought and registered in Texas. I’ve owned it for I believe 15-17 years and I’ve never registered it.
It has seen very little milage since I flew down to Texas with a budy of mine,
purchased it and drove it back to Connecticut (about 1,300 miles… I always loved the 262 Bertone Coupe.
I first had a 78 and it was a Northeast car owned by a well to do woman.
It was garraged BUT I guess I got it too late in its life. I stripped it and had it repainted.
It just wasn’t what I wanted and the money and work was to much for me.. BUT this 81 is just Great….
After all the want and all these years I think I would like to sell it But I’m just not sure.

I LIKE THIS CAR BECAUSE 262C IS THE BEST CAR AS I KNOW. 262C FOR ME IS THE KING OF VOLVO.

RUST FREE Arizona/ California cars. Poor interiors, great metal!
Contact me for full details- these cars needs to end up with a Volvo nut.

changed b27 to b230 later to b230ft. changed ac to 92 240. was at dealer from 1974 to 1988.
Sold this car new to a friend. traded back for it.
b230ft 92 244 a/c now being reassembled after repaint.
new leather 244gl style. bbs wheels.
I sold this car new when I worked at dealer.
Car was originally sold painted in metalic silver, at some point in her life (before I purchased her) she was repainted in deep metalic teal blue/green.
There is evidence of an engine fire which may have led to the colour change.
I have just had the radio, casette and dictaphone restored and will be installing them very soon.
Apart from the colour change, she is very much as she came from the factory and in remarkably good condition for her age.
I remember seeing one of these cars as a teenager (gold with a tan interior).
It was owned by one of my parents neighbours and I fell in love with the look of it.
27 years later I saw mine for sale on the side of the road and purchased her immediatly.
The seller had only owned it for a few months. He purchased it to tow a trailer and was told,
when the tow bar was to be installed, how rare the car was in Australia (and how expensive it would be to install a tow bar),
he then placed it out on the side of a major highway to see if anyone wanted to buy it.
I know nothing about her life before I purchased her.
If anyone knows about her early life, or previous owners, I would be very grateful for any information.
Bought car 12 years ago. I’m the second owner. Nice original condition – has 740 Turbo wheels and one original colour code respray.
Interior is perfect and engine is original.
912 Bertones were produced in 1981
This car is likely the last of four cars sold in Vancouver that year (one black one, two gold/brown 2-tones and one blue).
I don’t drive it a lot and only in the summer.
I bought this from my friend (member 478) who changed b27 to b230 later to b230ft.
He was employed at the Volvo dealer from 1974 to 1988.
He originally sold this car new from the dealership to a friend.
Years later he traded back for it. It has a 92 244 a/c.
Completely reassembled after repaint.
en perfecto estado ,totalmente nuevo. leather
My mother bought this in car in 1980 as a demo with 7000k on it. It was well used but 5 years ago she bought a new car.
She did not want to sell the Volvo but it was unreliable to drive as it needed work.
She gave the car to me and I am slowly trying to restore it on my visits home.
I live in New Brunswick but I visit my family and the car in Vancouver every year.
It is my transportation in Vancouver and is kept in the garage at all times. It now runs with antique license plates.
Need parts and books.
Completely restaured… sandblown, metalized ( zink-sprayed) epoxy-coated and painted in volvo S60 black sapphire.
Engine is B280E from 760. leather is softened, cleaned and re-coloured and lookes as NEW.
Very nice to find a website for Bertones, I always liked the Bertones, now with a 4.3 chevy v-6, and 200R4 trans,
I really love it, have done 28-30 mpg going to Portland, and 20-23 mpg around town.
This car is my daily driver and get alot of looks from people that want to know how long it took me to chop the top!
Some can’t believe Volvo ever made a “COOL” car! Thanks!
Bought and first driven in Sweden, exported to Holland in june 2004.
I bought it september 2013 from the previous owner. The car is fully original and complete.
Some repairjobs has been done to the paint, no total restoration as such.
The car has some bad spots at known spots like parafan and under the vinyl of the roof. Technical the car is in very good condition.
This is my restoration prosject for some years from now 🙂
Updated to later front, rear and dash from Australian 83 264GLE
